Acts 1:1-11 Reading Notes
In Acts 1:8, the Risen King says: “…you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
No backup plan. No retreat. Just ordinary people, empowered by the Spirit, sent with good news. This isn’t just their story. It’s ours. The Ascended Jesus is still at work, by his Spirit, through his people, in his world.

Day 1: The Unstoppable Mission of Jesus
📖 Acts 1:1–11
Acts reminds us that Jesus’ work didn’t end with His ascension. He continues His ministry by the Spirit through His people. Just as the disciples were called to be witnesses, we too are part of this unstoppable mission.
Reflect: How have you seen Jesus at work? How can you witness to His ongoing ministry today? Ask the Spirit to empower you to share the gospel.
—
Day 2: Certainty in an Uncertain World
📖 Luke 1:1–4; 24:44–49
Luke wrote to give Theophilus certainty. In a world full of uncertainty, the gospel gives us solid ground through eyewitness accounts and fulfilled promises.
Reflect: What gives you confidence in Jesus? How might that shape how you speak with those seeking truth?
—
Day 3: The Power of the Holy Spirit
📖 Acts 1:4–8; Joel 2:28–32
Jesus promised His followers power through the Holy Spirit—and that same Spirit empowers us today for witness and mission.
Reflect: Where do you need to rely more on the Spirit’s strength? Ask for boldness and a fresh filling today.
—
Day 4: Witnesses to the Ends of the Earth
📖 Matthew 28:16–20; Isaiah 49:6
The gospel is for all nations. From Jerusalem to the ends of the earth, the mission continues—and now it’s reached us. Reflect: Where is your “Jerusalem”? How might you live out this mission locally and globally this week?
—
Day 5: Burning the Boats – Total Commitment
📖 Luke 9:57–62; Philippians 3:7–14
To “burn the boats” means no retreat, no backup plan—just wholehearted trust in Jesus.
Reflect: Are there areas where you’re hedging your bets? What’s holding you back from full surrender?
