Acts 2:1-47 Reading Notes
In Acts 1:8, the Risen King says: “…you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
No backup plan. No retreat. Just ordinary people, empowered by the Spirit, sent with good news. This isn’t just their story. It’s ours. The Ascended Jesus is still at work, by his Spirit, through his people, in his world.

Day 1: Acts 2:1–4
On Pentecost, God kept His promise. The Spirit came with the sound of wind and the sight of fire—signs of His powerful presence. Every believer was filled and began to speak in other languages as the Spirit enabled them. The mission was about to ignite.
Thank God for giving His Spirit to all who trust in Jesus.

Day 2: Acts 2:5–13
People from every nation heard the mighty works of God in their own language. This was no accident—it was a deliberate sign that the gospel is for all people. Some were amazed. Others mocked. The same mixed responses greet the gospel today.
Pray for courage to speak of Jesus, whatever the response.

Day 3: Acts 2:14–36
Peter explained that this was the fulfilment of Joel’s prophecy. The last days had begun. Jesus—attested by God, crucified by sinners, raised from the dead, exalted to God’s right hand—has poured out the Spirit. He is both Lord and Messiah.
Worship Jesus as the risen and reigning King.
—
Day 4: Acts 2:37–41
Cut to the heart, the crowd asked, “What shall we do?” Peter replied: Repent. Be baptised in Jesus’ name for forgiveness and you will receive the Spirit. This promise is for all whom God calls. That day, 3,000 believed.
Ask God to help you keep calling on His name daily.
—
Day 5: Acts 2:42–47
The new believers devoted themselves to learning God’s Word, loving one another, worshipping joyfully, and witnessing boldly. God added to their number every day. The Spirit builds a gospel‑shaped community.
Pray for Christ Our Refuge to grow as a Spirit‑filled church.

VISION PRAYER
Father God, by your grace, enable our church to be a city of refuge within the city of Brisbane. Empower me this week, by your Spirit, to offer one person the refuge, security, and hope found in Christ Jesus. Amen.
