Acts 3-5 Reading Notes
In Acts 1:8, the Risen King says: “…you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
No backup plan. No retreat. Just ordinary people, empowered by the Spirit, sent with good news. This isn’t just their story. It’s ours. The Ascended Jesus is still at work, by his Spirit, through his people, in his world.

Day 1: Acts 3:1–10
At the temple gate, Peter and John met a man lame from birth. They had no silver or gold, but in Jesus’ name they gave him something greater—healing. He leapt up, walking and praising God. The name of Jesus brings life.
Thank God for His power to heal and restore.
—
Day 2: Acts 3:11–26
The miracle opened the door for the message: Jesus, God’s Servant, was crucified but raised from the dead. Forgiveness, refreshment, and future restoration come through repentance and faith in Him alone.
Ask God to deepen your trust in Jesus’ name.
—
Day 3: Acts 4:1–22
The rulers opposed the apostles, but Peter declared: “Salvation is found in no one else… no other name.” Ordered to stay silent, they could not—what they had seen and heard must be proclaimed.
Pray for boldness to speak about Jesus this week.
—
Day 4: Acts 4:23–37
The church prayed for courage, and the Spirit filled them afresh. They spoke God’s word boldly and shared everything, so no one was in need. Unity and generosity marked this Spirit-filled community.
Give thanks for the Spirit’s power to unite and transform.
—
Day 5: Acts 5:1–42
Ananias and Sapphira’s hypocrisy brought God’s judgment. Yet the gospel advanced through miracles, witness, and even persecution. The apostles rejoiced to suffer disgrace for Jesus’ name.
Ask God to make you faithful, holy, and joyful—whatever the cost.

VISION PRAYER
Father God, by your grace, enable our church to be a city of refuge within the city of Brisbane. Empower me this week, by your Spirit, to offer one person the refuge, security, and hope found in Christ Jesus. Amen.
